What is TRIWORLD

TRIWORLD is an online communications platform designed to help military families stay close and connected during separations caused by deployments or other active duty requirements.
 
In collaboration with Second Life®, a pioneer in the creation of online virtual communities, Humana Military Healthcare Services is offering its beneficiaries, active duty servicemen and women, retirees, and families free access to a virtual world developed exclusively for them. Within this virtual world, military members and their loved ones create and control lifelike "avatars" that are online personalized characters who can communicate and interact in the virtual world just as humans do in the real world. Through their avatars, military members and their loved ones can do whatever they would do together in person: meet, greet, walk, talk, drive, dance or even share a meal, go to the movies, or relax at home.
 
The Humana Military Healthcare Services virtual world keeps military family members connected in a far more personal and intimate way compared to other modes of communication, including phone calls, e-mail, or instant messaging. Users communicate and interact in real-time, in realistic settings, with real emotions, enabling them to preserve and build relationships, even if they're thousands of miles apart.
 
The Humana Military Healthcare Services virtual environment available through Second Life® is a "closed world". Access will be granted at no charge to Humana Military Healthcare Services beneficiaries and their families and no commercialization is allowed. The environment is active 24/7 to accommodate all worldwide time zones. Authorized users can visit and interact within five different virtual settings:
  • A Welcome Center where users can learn about their virtual world, and access information and updates about their health coverage.
     
  • A Tropical Island where users can enjoy water and beach activities (windsurfing, hang gliding, and jet skiing) strolls on the sandy beaches, picnics, and family fun.
     
  • A Neighborhood complete with an interactive soccer field, fishing, miniature golf, a drive-in movie theater, picnic grounds, club house with games and individual homes where families can enjoy private time together.
     
  • A Overseas Military Base replica that enables military members to show family members where and how they live and work when away from home.
     
  • A Conference Center with private meeting and press rooms, including an amphitheater for concerts, and park like settings.
To help members of military families get the most benefit from their virtual world experience, Humana Military Healthcare Services will also provide authorized users free 24/7 "online" access to avatar and Second Life® consultants who can offer one-on-one support in creating and personalizing avatars in using and navigating the virtual settings.
