Welcome to TRICARE and the South Region

The TRICARE Provider Handbook has been developed to provide you and your staff with basic, important information about TRICARE, while emphasizing key operational aspects of the program and program options. This handbook will assist you in coordinating care for TRICARE beneficiaries. It contains information about specific TRICARE programs, policies, and procedures. Colored text throughout the handbook indicates content that has been added or updated since the last edition. Deletions are not indicated.

Contracted TRICARE providers are obligated to abide by the rules, procedures, policies, and program requirements as specified in this TRICARE Provider Handbook, which is a summary of the regulations and requirements related to the TRICARE program. Additional TRICARE program information may be found on the TRICARE Web site. TRICARE program manuals are available in their entirety at the TMA Manuals Web site.

Behavioral health care providers can request paper copies of the handbook from ValueOptions (Humana Military’s behavioral health care partner) at 1-800-700-8646. Provider newsletters and monthly bulletins are distributed throughout the year to provide updates to this publication as needed.

Thank you for your service to America’s heroes and their families. If you are a network provider and need any assistance, please contact your TRICARE Provider Relations Representative at the TRICARE Service Center nearest you. If you are a behavioral health care provider, call 1-800-700-8646.
