Dear TRICARE Provider:

All of us at Humana Military Healthcare Services, Inc. appreciate the services and skills you provide to military beneficiaries in the TRICARE South Region. More than 2.8 million individuals in the South are eligible for TRICARE benefits. They include members of the armed services, National Guard and Reserve members, their dependents, as well as military retirees and their families.

This handbook describes the TRICARE program and requirements in detail. It also provides phone and Web site information in case you need further assistance.

We have improved our online provider services, making transactions easier and quicker. Providers can request multiple eligibility checks, submit and review referrals, and view patient medications. Network providers now submit almost two thirds of referral requests online. Our system immediately approves a majority of these requests.

In partnership with the University of Louisville, we offer two one-hour CME courses on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI). You may access the courses through the online learning center in the provider portion of our Web site.

Humana Military has significantly reduced its requirements for prior authorization of services. Details of these requirements are in this handbook.

Suicide is of growing concern to the military community. We offer two resources on suicide for providers. “Comprehensive Suicide Risk Assessment: Improving Assessment and Decreasing Risk” and an accompanying Suicide Risk Assessment Form are available on our Web site in the “Behavioral Health Related Forms” section.

Our Warrior Navigation and Assistance Program (WNAP) provides one-on-one guidance to active duty service members and National Guard and Reserve members. Service members may call 1-888-4GO-WNAP for direct access to a multidisciplinary team to obtain assistance for themselves or their family members.

We understand the value of services you provide to our nation’s military and their families. Thank you for participating in the care of these American heroes.

Sincerely,
