LOUISVILLE, KY - Mar 25, 2003 - Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) announced today that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Humana Military Healthcare Services (HMHS), was honored at the recent Department of Defense (DoD) TRICARE conference with a "Best of TRICARE on the Web" award as the "Most Innovative Web Site" for a Managed Care Support Contractor in 2003.
TRICARE recognized the HMHS Web site for the innovative online services it offers to providers, beneficiaries and military medical facilities throughout TRICARE regions 2, 3, 4 and 5, encompassing the Heartland, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast and GulfSouth areas.
At www.humana-military.com, providers have the capability to create referrals and authorizations, verify patient eligibility, run provider-specific reports and check the status of pending claims. HMHS TRICARE Prime beneficiaries can pay quarterly and annual re-enrollment fees, find a provider, download forms and access program guidelines, including information on health and wellness. HMHS’ military medical facilities can use the site to run facility-specific reports, confirm patient eligibility and follow the progress of pending claims.

HMHS contracts with the DoD to provide access to health care services to approximately three million eligible military dependents in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan and parts of Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana and Virginia through the administration of the TRICARE program.
