Eight Behavioral Health Visits Allowed without Authorization

All TRICARE beneficiaries except active duty service members (ADSMs) may self-refer to a civilian network behavioral health care provider for the first eight outpatient behavioral health visits per fiscal year (Oct. 1–Sept.30) without prior authorization.
          

Understanding the Military Treatment Facility "Right of First Refusal"

When a primary care manager gives you a referral for specialty care, an inpatient admission or other care requiring written prior authorization, you must first seek that care at the MTF. This is known as the MTF “right of first refusal.”

Active duty family members (ADFMs) enrolled in any TRICARE Prime option can now call TRICARE Global Remote Overseas (TGRO) Alarm Centers to obtain emergency care when traveling overseas.

 


TRICARE’s Respite Care Benefit Expanded

TRICARE now offers respite care to eligible beneficiaries who incur a serious injury or illness while serving on active duty. The benefit is retroactive to Jan. 1, 2008, and provides rest for primary caregivers who have been caring for injured or ill uniformed services members at home.
