Emergency Care Line Now Available for Active Duty Family Members Traveling Overseas

Active duty family members (ADFMs) enrolled in any TRICARE Prime option can now call TRICARE Global Remote Overseas (TGRO) Alarm Centers to obtain emergency care when traveling overseas. In the past, only ADFMs enrolled in TGRO were authorized to use TGRO Alarm Centers.

Note: Urgent care (e.g., sprain, earache) is not covered.* ADFMs not enrolled in a TRICARE Prime option and retirees and their family members (regardless of TRICARE Prime status) are not eligible to use TGRO Alarm Centers.†

If you are eligible and need emergency care overseas, immediately contact the TGRO Alarm Center or go to the nearest emergency care facility. Once you arrive, contact the TGRO Alarm Center to coordinate payment and, if necessary, transfer to another facility where more comprehensive care is available. If you are admitted, the TGRO contractor will coordinate with your military treatment facility or Humana Military (if enrolled stateside) to determine if you should be transferred to another facility and will coordinate emergency transport.

You must indicate if you have other health insurance and coordinate with your primary insurer to ensure payment for services. The TGRO contractor will not guarantee payment as secondary payer but can assist you in locating providers.

TGRO Alarm Centers operate at all hours, accept collect calls (except Singapore) and are available in each TRICARE overseas area:
  • TRICARE Europe: 44-20-8762-8133
  • TRICARE Pacific: 65-6-338-9277 (Singapore) 61-2-9273-2760 (Sydney)
  • TRICARE Latin America and Canada: 1-800-834-5514 or 1-215-701-2800 (collect)
For urgent care, obtain a PCM referral and contact Humana Military before receiving care. You will pay for services and then file a claim for reimbursement with your regional claims processor. Care received without a PCM referral will be covered under the point of service option and you will incur higher costs.

† If you are not eligible for TGRO Alarm Center assistance, contact a local military treatment facility or the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate to find a local emergency care provider. You may need to pay for services and then file a claim with your regional claims processor.
