Cervical Cancer Risk Factors
|
All women are at risk of developing cervical cancer; however, certain risk factors may increase your chance of developing the disease. We have no control over certain risk factors, like family history, but there are other risk factors we can change, such as smoking, weight, and diet. Below are key risk factors that may increase your risk of cervical cancer.
- Chlamydia, HPV, and HIV infections
- Smoking
- Long-term use of birth control pills
- Family history of cervical cancer
- Use of diethylstilbestrol (DES)
