|
|
|
This year, former TRICARE Regions 3, 4 and 6 become the new TRICARE South Region. The following are important details regarding your privacy information during this transition.
Because Humana Military is the former contractor for Regions 3 and 4, all previously submitted HIPAA and legal documents submitted by Region 3 and 4 beneficiaries remain on file for use in TRICARE South.
Humana Military will be coordinating with Health Net Federal Services, the outgoing regional contractor of former Region 6, to exchange HIPAA-related forms and legal documents for continued use, beginning Nov. 1, 2004.
As a beneficiary, you have the right to revoke the authorization for release of information. Please call Humana Military at 1-800-444-5445 or write to request the “Revocation of Authorization for Release of Information” form. In the event the information is not transferable or is incomplete, you may be requested to complete a new form and/or submit additional supporting legal documentation. The address is:

You also can compare TRICARE costs to civilian health insurance plans using the TRICARE Health Comparison site, accessible at the same Web address. Update: Enhanced Care for Reserve Component
The 2004 Temporary Reserve Health Benefit Program includes three temporary TRICARE benefit provisions; some are effective as of Nov. 6, 2003, and all expire Dec. 31, 2004. The provisions enhance access to care for Reserve Component members and their families, and ultimately improve readiness.
The three provisions include:
- Earlier eligibility for TRICARE upon receipt of mobilization orders
- Extension of Transitional Assistance Management Program benefits to 180 days upon demobilization—this provision has been implemented
- Eligibility for premium-based TRICARE coverage when other employer-sponsored health insurance is not available (when sponsor is not mobilized)
For more information as it develops, visit www.tricare.mil/reserve.
