TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS) is a premium-based health plan that qualified National Guard and Reserve members may purchase. TRS offers coverage similar to TRICARE Standard and Extra. It is available worldwide to most Selected Reserve members (and families) when not on active duty orders or covered under the Transitional Assistance Management Program. Who is eligible?
National Guard and Reserve members may qualify to purchase TRS coverage if they are:
- A member of the Selected Reserve of the Ready Reserve
- Not eligible for or enrolled in the Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) program
TRS is only available when you are not eligible for any other non-premium-based TRICARE health coverage. Qualified members may purchase Member-Only or Member-and-Family coverage.

How do I enroll?
Mail or fax your completed TRS Request Form along with the first month's premium payment to Humana Military within the specified deadline. You must submit an initial payment equal to one month's premium with your completed TRS Request Form to begin coverage. Premiums can be paid by check, money order or cashier's check (payable to the regional contractor), or by Visa®/MasterCard®.
For those members of the selected reserve who do not have a CAC card, you now can go to any TRICARE Service Center and acquire a DS Logon account. Once you have a DS Logon, you can use it to purchase TRICARE Reserve Select health care coverage online.
How do I pay my fees electronically?
Once you are enrolled, you have three options for paying your monthly premiums.

Attention: TRS Beneficiaries Residing Outside of the Continental United States
Effective September 1, 2010 International SOS (ISOS) will administer the TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS) program for beneficiaries that reside outside of the continental United States (OCONUS). No action is necessary for current OCONUS beneficiaries to transition their coverage from Humana Military Healthcare Services to ISOS. OCONUS beneficiaries will receive new TRS ID cards in September and should call 1-877-451-8659 for any TRS questions on or after September 1.
