TRICARE Prime Remote (TPR) and TRICARE Prime Remote for Active Duty Family Members (TPRADFMs) provide active duty service members and their eligible family members with a TRICARE Prime-like option while they are assigned to remote duty stations in the United States.

What are the key features? 

  • Fewer out-of-pocket costs
  • Similar to TRICARE Prime
  • Receive most care from an assigned network primary care manager (PCM) who will provide referrals for specialty care.  If a network PCM is not available, care is received from any TRICARE-authorized provider.
  • Enhanced coverage for vision and clinical preventive services.
  • Time and distance access standards for care.
  • No claims to file (in most cases)
  • Easy to transfer enrollment (portability) when moving to another location in your TRICARE region or to a new TRICARE region.
  • Only available in TPR-designated zip code areas.

Who is eligible? 

  • Active duty service members with a permanent duty assignment;
  • Members who live and work more than 50 miles or one hour's drive time from a military treatment facility and
  • Members who live and work in a TPR-designated zip code.
