Humana Military and ValueOptions Provide Assistance to Fort Hood Beneficiaries in Wake of Recent Tragedydivider line

LOUISVILLE, KY— November 6, 2009  Humana Military Healthcare Services, TRICARE contractor for the South Region, along with our behavioral health partner, ValueOptions, Inc. are ready to assist Fort Hood beneficiaries through the tragedy that occurred on November 5.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Fort Hood community,” said Dave Baker, president and CEO of Humana Military. “Our associates and partners at ValueOptions stand ready to assist our beneficiaries and providing services to them is our number one priority.”

During times of tragedy, it is important for beneficiaries to know where to go for assistance in dealing with emotional reactions and stress. Some of the services available to South Region beneficiaries through TRICARE’s behavioral health benefit include:
  • Behavioral Health Appointment Assistance phone line: 1-877-298-3514
    • This line will work to provide immediate assistance to all calls related to Fort Hood. And temporarily, Fort Hood Military Treatment Facility referrals to the civilian network will receive ValueOptions assistance in scheduling their appointments immediately.

  • TRIAP Services
    • TRIAP is a private, confidential counseling service accessed via the Web using online video chat technology to supplement the behavioral services currently available across the Military Health System. It provides supportive counseling or advice when dealing with personal problems and allows for short-term, private, non-reportable discussions of crisis intervention, personal life issues, relationships, stress management, dealing with anxiety, etc., on a one-one-one basis through a confidential relationship with a licensed professional.

  • Crisis Intervention
    • ValueOptions website, AchieveSolutions, will be providing customized material for the Fort Hood area to include tips, tools, checklists and articles on crisis response and surviving disasters. It is available to all TRICARE beneficiaries. The website can be accessed through Humana Military’s beneficiary portal.

  • Information customized for Ft. Hood area beneficiaries is available on the Humana Military website.
It is also important to note non-active duty TRICARE beneficiaries are allowed eight behavioral visits without a referral or authorization. In addition, Humana Military and ValueOptions are temporarily waiving payment penalties associated with providers seeing patients without pre-authorizations as it relates to the tragedy at Fort Hood.

Humana Military and ValueOptions are ready to assist the community through this difficult time. Beneficiaries needing assistance on other issues may contact Humana Military at 1-800-444-5445.
