| Disaster Supply Kit |
| Assemble a Disaster Supply Kit with items you may need in an evacuation. The list below is a good place to start. Keep enough supplies in your home to care for you and your family for at least three days. Stock these provisions in sturdy, easy-to-carry containers. |
- Water - at least 1 gallon daily per person for 3 to 7 days
- Beverages
- Food - at least enough for 3 to 7 days
- non-perishable packaged or canned food / juices
- foods for infants or the elderly
- snack foods
- Cooking tools / fuel /manual can opener
- Paper plates / plastic utensils
- Plastic garbage bags
- Toilet paper and paper towels
- Ice
- Charcoal/lighter fluid
- Propane
- Seasonal supplies such as insect repellent and sunscreen
- A list of valued, irreplaceable personal items, like photo albums, computer backup discs, that you would want to take, if there is time to gather them.
- Blankets / Pillows, etc.
- Clothing - seasonal / rain gear/ sturdy shoes
- First Aid Kit / Medicines / Prescription Drugs
- Eyeglasses / contact lens and supplies
- Special Items - for babies and the elderly
- Toiletries / Hygiene items / Moisture wipes
- Flashlight / Batteries
- Battery-powered radio or television
- Cash (with some small bills and coins) - Banks and ATMs may not be open or available for extended periods.
- Keys
- Toys, Books and Games
- Matches in a waterproof container
- Whistle
- Important documents - in a waterproof container or watertight resealable plastic bag
- insurance, medical records, bank account numbers, Social Security card, etc.
- TRICARE Contact List
- Tools - keep a set with you during the storm
- Vehicle fuel tanks filled
- Pet care items
