Louisville, KY – October 12, 2006 – Humana Military Healthcare Services (HMHS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Humana Inc. (NYSE:HUM), today announced that it is one of the newest members in promoting and fostering military spouses’ employment. The Army Spouse Employment Partnership (ASEP) inducted Humana Military during a signing ceremony on Monday, October 9, 2006 in Washington, D.C.
“Humana Military Healthcare Services is honored to be part of the Army Spouse Employment Partnership,” said David J. Together with ASEP, I am confident we can help, thereby improving the quality of life for soldiers and their families.”
The Honorable Francis J. Harvey, secretary of the Army, said in a message to ASEP Partners, “Soldier retention is clearly tied to a spouse’s satisfaction with their quality of life – including the ability to realize personal and professional goals, to maintain a career, and to contribute to their family’s financial stability. Each is a critical factor in a family’s decision to remain a member of the Army Team. The Army Spouse Employment Partnership . . . underscores my commitment to the well-being of soldiers and their families.”
ASEP is leading the efforts in building private partnerships with Fortune 500 companies and military spouses. The goal is to facilitate the employment of military spouses to the mutual benefit of the military and privately held companies. The agreed upon goal affords the spouses employment opportunities to better meet employment goals, career sustainment and mobility and increased family financial security.
“This partnership offers us a diverse and qualified candidate pool in locations near our 70 offices,” said David B. James, chief of Human Resources for HMHS. “The connections these candidates have with the military will lead to motivated and enthusiastic associates.”
