Humana Military Healthcare Services Relaxes Several Policies for TRICARE Beneficiaries Affected by Hurricane Katrina Continuity of Care
|

Louisville, KY – September 8, 2005 — Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) announced today that Humana Military Healthcare Services (HMHS), working on behalf of and at the direction of the Department of Defense (DoD), is relaxing several management policies related for Primary Care Managers (PCMs) and some network specialists who are unable to serve their TRICARE enrollees. This collaboration is designed to guarantee that the TRICARE program is supportive of the beneficiaries’ needs and does not create additional barriers. Beneficiaries do not need our approval to seek routine or urgent medical care until further notice.
“We are working closely with the Department of Defense to ensure that the ability to obtain medical care will not waiver during this disaster recovery period,” said David, J. Baker, president and CEO of HMHS. “We want these individuals to know that Humana Military Healthcare Services is standing by to help ease the process when they do need to seek care.”
HMHS is committed to ensuring TRICARE beneficiaries that are residents of the Gulf Coast and Biloxi areas are able to receive routine and urgent medical care as needed.
The best way to access information about TRICARE in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama is to contact HMHS’ customer service at 1-800-444-5445.
We understand that families will have many life altering decisions to make in the upcoming weeks. And we want to help ease their mind when it comes to receiving their medical care,” said Baker.
