LOUISVILLE, Ky. — September 6, 2007 — Humana Military Healthcare Services (HMHS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Humana Inc., recently received URAC Accreditation for Disease Management – Asthma. URAC is a Washington, D.C.- based healthcare accrediting organization that establishes quality standards for the industry.

URAC’s Disease Management Accreditation standards ensure that appropriately trained clinical personnel implement a health assessment process, conduct assessments according to a standard process, and based on those results, implement interventions, employ evidence-based decision-support tools that are reviewed and updated annually and ensure that patients have telephonic access to its staff. The standards support the physician or practitioner/patient relationship and plan of care by utilizing evidence-based guidelines and patient empowerment strategies and evaluating outcomes on an ongoing basis.
