Humana Military Healthcare Services' Ft. Walton Beach TRICARE Service Center Plans Move to New Location at Eglin Air Force Base and Hurlburt Field

LOUISVILLE, KY — June 13, 2006 — Humana Military Healthcare Services, Inc. (HMHS), the Department of Defense’s TRICARE South Region managed care support contractor announced today it will move its Fort Walton Beach TRICARE Service Center (TSC) onto two nearby military installations.  The current facility will close on June 22, 2006.  

The TSC at Hurlburt Field will open on June 22, 2006 in the Hurlburt Field Medical Clinic at 113 Lielmanis Ave. The hours of operation will be from 7:30 a.m. –  4:30 p.m., Monday- Friday.  “We are glad to have the service center here.  This is the fulfillment of a goal we've had for several years,” said Colonel Timothy Jex, 16th Medical Group commander. “This provides one-stop service inside the clinic and it will make it a lot easier for our patients to get the services they need.”

The TSC at Eglin Air Force Base (AFB) will open in its new location on Friday, June 23, 2006. The new facility, located at 307 Boatner Road, Building 2793, on Eglin AFB will be open Monday – Friday from 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. “The relocation of the TSC to the 96th Medical Group is a win-win for everyone,” said Colonel Gary S. Forthman, 96th Medical Group commander, Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.  “It only makes sense to have all experts at the same location where the majority of our beneficiaries are treated.  This is a superb example of one-stop shopping, where the customer is able to take care of all TRICARE related matters without having to leave the base.”

“Moving the TRICARE Service Center onto the bases makes it more convenient for our beneficiaries.  This move allows us to be closer to those military men and women who utilize our services,” said Gayle Van Veen, GulfSouth market director South for HMHS.  “This also affords the Military Treatment Facilities (MTF) the opportunity for immediate access to our services in support of their missions.”  

HMHS’ Fort Walton Beach TSC was originally located in the AmSouth Bank at 25 NE Beal Parkway.
