Moving
Because you move frequently while you are on active duty, follow these steps to ensure you have no break in coverage when you move.

  1. Do not disenroll from TPR/TPRADFM before you move to your new location.
  2. When you arrive at your new duty station, update DEERS immediately.
  3. Select a new PCM or transfer your enrollment within 30 days at your new duty location.

If you move to another area in the same TRICARE region, contact Humana Military to change your PCM. If you move out of your TPR-designated ZIP code area and into a TRICARE Prime service area, your enrollment will transfer from TPR/TPRADFM to TRICARE Prime.

If you move to a new TRICARE region, contact your new regional contractor to transfer your enrollment. The enrollment transfer is effective when your new TRICARE Prime Enrollment Application and PCM Change Form is received by your new regional contractor.

Remember, enrollment is never automatic. You must complete and sign an application in order for your change in enrollment to take place. Active duty service members must enroll during the command check-in process. Enrollment is mandatory for all active duty service members and is not completed until an enrollment form is signed by the member and submitted to Humana Military. Family member enrollment in TPRADFM is optional. If the family members choose not to enroll, they are covered by TRICARE Standard and TRICARE Extra.

Important Note for Family Members
If your sponsor is deployed, you may remain enrolled in TPRADFM during his or her deployment. However, if you move from your current TPR ZIP code area, you must disenroll from TPRAFDFM, and you may not re-enroll even if you move to another designated TPR ZIP code area. Note: You are able to move within the same ZIP code area and remain enrolled in TPRADFM. In these situations, you can enroll in TRICARE Prime, if available, or you are covered by TRICARE Standard and TRICARE Extra.
