Humana Government Network Services, Inc. (Humana Government) is a subsidiary of Humana Military Healthcare Services, Inc. (Humana Military), which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Humana Inc. Formed in 2009 to address the provider network needs of Humana Military, Humana Government will capitalize on two decades of Humana experience providing healthcare services to the military and their dependants through Humana Military and to veterans through Humana Veterans Healthcare Services.  
          

The Issue

Government agencies ranging from the Department of Defense to the Indian Health Service and the United States Marshals Service rely on community-based physicians and health care facilities to provide clinical services to citizens, employees, and other groups. Services can range from routine physicals and duty examinations to the provision of primary and specialty care.

With 400,000+ physicians and 5,000+ hospitals and health systems delivering services in the United States today, the task of contracting with individual physicians or facilities for these services can be daunting. Some agencies lack the internal expertise to design effective reimbursement schemes, while others simply lack the administrative resources to negotiate and implement agreements.

Please be informed that as of February 17, 2011, the Wildland Firefighter Task Order with Medical Development International (MDI)  for physical exams has expired. Humana Military's support contract with MDI as the claims processor for  Wildland Firefighter exams also expired as of February 17, 2011.
